Active Straight Leg Raise (ASLR)

Movement Screen

Assesses lumbopelvic stability and hamstring length.

Purpose

Screen for Active Straight Leg Raise findings.

Execution

  1. Lie supine with both legs straight and arms at sides
  2. Keep the non-test leg flat and toes up
  3. Raise the test leg with the knee straight as high as possible
  4. Stop before the pelvis tilts or the other leg lifts
  5. Compare left vs right range

Protocol

  1. Observe from: lateral.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
