Active Straight Leg Raise (ASLR)
Movement Screen
Assesses lumbopelvic stability and hamstring length.
Purpose
Screen for Active Straight Leg Raise findings.
Execution
- Lie supine with both legs straight and arms at sides
- Keep the non-test leg flat and toes up
- Raise the test leg with the knee straight as high as possible
- Stop before the pelvis tilts or the other leg lifts
- Compare left vs right range
Key Observations
- Ability to raise the leg without compensation
- Pelvic rotation suggests stability deficit

Protocol
- Observe from: lateral.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
