Craniocervical Flexion Test (CCFT)

Strength

Assesses endurance of deep cervical flexors with biofeedback.

Purpose

Screen for Craniocervical Flexion findings.

Execution

  1. Lie supine with knees bent and head supported
  2. Gently nod the chin as if saying "yes" without lifting the head
  3. Maintain the nod while lifting the head slightly
  4. Hold for the prescribed time or pressure target
  5. Monitor for loss of chin tuck or compensations

Protocol

  1. Observe from: supine.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
