Ely Test (Rectus Femoris)
Flexibility
Specific for rectus femoris length.
Purpose
Screen for Ely findings.
Execution
- Lie prone with legs straight
- Stabilize the pelvis to prevent anterior tilt
- Flex the test knee, bringing the heel toward the glute
- Observe hip lift or pelvic rotation
- Compare left vs right
Key Observations
- Prone, passive knee flexion
- Pelvic rise indicates a positive test

Protocol
- Observe from: lateral.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
