Ely Test (Rectus Femoris)

Flexibility

Specific for rectus femoris length.

Purpose

Screen for Ely findings.

Execution

  1. Lie prone with legs straight
  2. Stabilize the pelvis to prevent anterior tilt
  3. Flex the test knee, bringing the heel toward the glute
  4. Observe hip lift or pelvic rotation
  5. Compare left vs right

Protocol

  1. Observe from: lateral.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
