Mobility

Assesses hip external rotation.

Purpose

Screen for Hip External Rotation at 90 deg Flexion findings.

Execution

  1. Lie supine with hip and knee at 90 deg
  2. Stabilize the pelvis
  3. Move the lower leg inward to create hip external rotation
  4. Stop at end range without pelvic tilt
  5. Compare sides

Protocol

  1. Observe from: supine.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
