Mobility
Assesses hip external rotation.
Purpose
Screen for Hip External Rotation at 90 deg Flexion findings.
Execution
- Lie supine with hip and knee at 90 deg
- Stabilize the pelvis
- Move the lower leg inward to create hip external rotation
- Stop at end range without pelvic tilt
- Compare sides
Key Observations
- Normal 40-60 deg
- Restriction suggests posterior capsule or piriformis
Views
Protocol
- Observe from: supine.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
