Lateral Scapular Slide Test

Symmetry

Measure bilateral scapular position symmetry.

Purpose

Screen for Lateral Scapular Slide findings.

Execution

1. Stand relaxed with arms at the sides
2. Measure scapular position relative to the spine
3. Repeat with hands on hips (45 deg abduction)
4. Repeat with arms abducted to 90 deg
5. Compare left vs right distances

Key Observations

• Measure distance from scapular spine to spine
• Difference >1.5 cm is significant

Views

• posterior

Protocol

1. Observe from: posterior.
2. Standardize start position and instructions.
3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
