Navicular Drop Test

Posture

Assesses foot pronation.

Purpose

Screen for Navicular Drop findings.

Execution

1. Find and mark the navicular tuberosity
2. Measure navicular height in seated neutral foot
3. Stand and measure navicular height again
4. Calculate the drop between seated and standing
5. Compare sides

Key Observations

• Measure navicular height seated vs standing
• >10 mm indicates excessive pronation

Protocol

1. Observe from: medial.
2. Standardize start position and instructions.
3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
