Neer Impingement Test
Special Test
Assesses subacromial impingement.
Purpose
Screen for Neer Impingement findings.
Execution
- Stand with the arm internally rotated (thumb down)
- Passively flex the arm overhead in the scapular plane
- Stabilize the scapula to limit upward rotation
- Note pain near end range
- Compare sides
Key Observations
- Passive flexion with the scapula stabilized
- Pain indicates a positive test
Views
Protocol
- Observe from: frontal.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
