Global assessment of mobility and stability during an overhead squat.
Purpose
Screen for global mobility and stability during an overhead squat.
Execution
- Stand with feet shoulder-width apart
- Raise arms overhead with elbows extended
- Perform 5-10 controlled squats
- Observe from frontal, lateral, and posterior views
- Note deviations during descent and ascent
Key Observations
- Depth (femur at least parallel)
- Knee alignment over feet
- Torso posture (ideally vertical)
- Heels stay on the floor
- Arms next to ears
Views
Protocol
- Observe from: frontal, lateral, posterior.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
