Assessment of gluteal activation and hip extension pattern.
Purpose
Screen for Prone Hip Extension findings.
Execution
- Lie prone with legs straight
- Activate glute and lift one leg slightly
- Keep the pelvis level and avoid lumbar extension
- Observe timing of glute vs hamstring activation
- Compare sides
Key Observations
- Normal order: glute -> hamstring -> erector
- Altered order suggests gluteal amnesia
Views
Protocol
- Observe from: posterior.
- Standardize start position and instructions.
- Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
- Record key observations and any positive indicators.
- Compare left vs right when applicable.
