Push-Up Assessment

Movement Screen

Assesses scapular and core control during a push-up.

Purpose

Screen for trunk and scapular control during a push-up.

Execution

  1. Start in a plank position with hands under shoulders
  2. Perform controlled push-ups to a consistent depth
  3. Observe trunk alignment and scapular control
  4. Note compensations such as sagging or winging
  5. Repeat 3-5 reps

Protocol

  1. Observe from: lateral, superior.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
