Sleeper Stretch Tolerance

Flexibility

Assesses posterior capsule tolerance and restriction.

Purpose

Screen for Sleeper Stretch Tolerance findings.

Execution

  1. Lie on the side of the test shoulder
  2. Set the shoulder and elbow at 90 deg
  3. Stabilize the scapula against the surface
  4. Gently internally rotate the arm
  5. Note end range and tolerance

Protocol

  1. Observe from: lateral.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
