Trendelenburg Test

Hip Stability

Test for gluteus medius function during single-leg stance.

Purpose

Screen for Trendelenburg findings.

Execution

  1. Stand on one leg with hands on hips
  2. Hold for 10-30 seconds
  3. Observe pelvic drop or trunk shift
  4. Repeat on the other side
  5. Compare stability

Protocol

  1. Observe from: posterior.
  2. Standardize start position and instructions.
  3. Perform 2-3 trials per side when applicable.
  4. Record key observations and any positive indicators.
  5. Compare left vs right when applicable.
