Toe dissociation drill to improve intrinsic foot control and arch function.
Execution
- Barefoot, seated or standing
- Lift the big toe while keeping the other toes down
- Then lift the four toes while keeping the big toe down
- Alternate with control
- 2-3 sets x 10-15 reps each pattern
Cues
- Isolate toe movement
- No ankle movement
- Be patient—it takes practice
Common Errors
- Moving the whole foot
- Rushing
- Tensing the entire body
Progressions
- Seated -> Standing -> Single leg -> During gait
